Canada's border remain open to international students

The country continues to allow entry of foreign nationals with valid study permits who meet 'testing and health requirements' amid COVID.

As most country borders in the world beef up protections in the still ongoing pandemic, Canada has remained open to letting foreign travelers who meet certain standards and requirements.

International students are among the foreigners allowed entry. In an online tool that lets you check if you will be allowed into the country, students are indicated to be likely allowed provided they meet the following requirements:

FOR UNVACCINATED/PARTIALLY VACCINATED

  • a valid study permit

  • the school you’re attending must be considered a designated learning institution (DLI) with a COVID-19 readiness plan approved by its province or territory

  • , fully vaccinated travellers who are permitted to enter Canada may be exempt from some federal quarantine and testing requirements.

These new measures apply to international students who:

  • have a valid study permit

  • are fully vaccinated with Government of Canada approved vaccines

  • have a negative pre-entry COVID-19 test result

  • test negative for COVID-19 upon arrival in Canada if randomly selected

  • will be attending a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) with an approved COVID-19 readiness plan

  • meet all other entry requirements for fully vaccinated travellers from Canada Border Services Agency
